mission

The Mission of The Smack Foundation is to provide a targeted and effective source of information, assistance, services and treatment for victims of substance abuse, homelessness, and our troubled youth and their families, and for the individuals and organizations who seek to help them. It will be a general clearing house for those seeking funds for treatment or research projects, and it will provide resource and assistance to social, psychological, physical, and financial resources with the ultimate goal of alleviating substance abuse, homelessness and the growing problem of our troubled youth in the United States through knowledge, treatment, assistance, services and research in helping people receive the necessary assistance in their daily life’s challenges.

The foundation will assist persons and families within the state of North Carolina and the continental United States in providing assistance with food, clothing, lodging and counseling to the client and their families in receiving the necessary treatment, counseling and services with targeted assistance of their primary crisis and problem.

Our Youth are the corner stone of our society and the future of our world and yet we refuse to acknowledge the growing problems that we have with our youth today and we lack the responsibility of taking care of our own in solving the problems that has affected their lives.

People from every walk of life and from every social, ethnic and financial background have been affected by Substance Abuse, some form of homelessness and most of all have been associated with our troubled youth in one form or another.

These problems have touched the First Family, movie celebrities, rock stars, doctors, lawyers and professional athletes. The rich and the poor have both been affected because Substance Abuse, homelessness and troubled youth do not discriminate. The latest survey shows that 7 out of every 10 persons have a problem with Substance Abuse, homelessness and troubled youth problem of excessive drinking and drug addiction touches nearly everyone's lives in some form or another.

Substance Abuse, the homeless and our troubled youth is a growing National Problem that needs to be addressed immediately by our leaders, communities, and families and dealt with in stronger terms than we currently do in our present day society. It has destroyed families, careers, friendships, and jobs, which in turn has put a shadow on our future.

It’s power to completely corrupt quality of life for the victim and everyone in his or her life is only too well known by those involved and the destruction it has caused in their lives and the strain it has put on the families and community.

Note: Help is needed now so that the tides can be changed before it is too late, we need more than words said about the problems our society faces today we need action on the part of local and national officials, it is time to stop dragging their feet and put there words into action. Support our cause so that we can bring the problem in better terms to them face to face.

addiction

Alcoholism and drug addiction have been classified as  diseases by the medical community for more than 50 years. They should be treated like any other disease, not like a character flaw or a behavior problem.

Someone could be considered chemically dependent if they are drinking excessively or using a controlled substance on a regular basis for any reason other than those prescribed by a doctor. The seriousness of someone’s chemical dependency is often determined by what effect it is having on their lives and the lives of those around them.

The most common addictive substances are heroin, alcohol, marijuana, cocaine, and prescription drugs.

Another addictive drug is
methamphetamine (crystal meth), also known as Crack. It is very dangerous and potent. It is particularly insidious and widespread because it can be produced by dealers who manufacture and sell it.

MDMA, called "Adam," "Ecstasy," or "XTC" on the street, is a synthetic, psychoactive (mind-altering) drug with hallucinogenic and amphetamine-like properties. Its chemical structure (3-4 methylenedioxymeth- amphetamine) is similar to two other synthetic drugs, MDA and methamphetamine, which are known to cause brain damage.
